CapsBeep modifies the behavior of the caps lock key.
There are two primary functions of CapsBeep:
Caps Lock Beep
The Caps Lock Beep function was written for my "silent partner" who was getting annoyed with accidentally hitting caps lock when he was trying to press the tab key (newer Apple keyboards don't have the distinct click when pressing caps lock that the old ones did).
When it is on, Caps Lock Beep will cause a beep to sound after the caps lock has been pressed. The beep will not sound until the first key press after the caps lock change (so, if you press caps lock twice in a row, no beep will sound).
The "Only on Caps Lock Down" option allows you to specify whether the beep occurs whenever Caps Lock is pressed, or only when it is activated (changed to the 'down' state).
You can choose between 1 and 3 beeps (or turn it off altogether).
Reverse Shift
When caps lock is on, holding down the shift key will produce lower-case characters (reversing the normal caps lock upper-case characters).

Trial Software
This trial software is made available for you to evaluate prior to purchase. The first time the software is run, it will generate an internal key which will give you a 15 day trial period. If you have not registered when the trial period has expired, a notification window will appear to inform you that the trial period is over, and that it is time for you to now register or remove the software.

Requirements
Requires a Macintosh with a 68020 or later processor (including PowerPC) - pretty much any Mac except the old Classics, SE, Portable, and PowerBook 100.
If you are still running on a 68000, please send a note to support@nisto.com and we will try to make a special edition available for you to test on your system.
Works with Macintosh System 7 and Mac OS 8 (the control panel is Appearance Manager savvy). It may work with System 6, but this has not been tested (please let me know if you have success or problems with System 6).
It is not known whether CapsBeep will work with non-US keyboards. Please let us know if you encounter any problems with non-US keyboards or systems.

Installation
0) Read the License Agreement below.
1) Put the "CapsBeep" control panel into your "Control Panels" folder (this can be done by dragging "CapsBeep" onto your System Folder).
2) Open the "CapsBeep" control panel (in your "Control Panels" folder) and choose the settings you want. Balloon Help is available for all of the options.
3) Restart your computer.
Once installed, you can change your settings on the fly, with the exception that if CapsBeep was off the last time you re/started your computer, it will not be able to be turned on without a restart (you can still change the settings and set it on, and then restart your computer to activate it).
(If, for some unimaginable reason, you want to remove CapsBeep from your system, you just need to drag the CapsBeep control panel to the trash. CapsBeep does not create a preference or any other files.)

Registration
CapsBeep is a commercial program. You may try the demo for 15 days. After the trial period, you must register a separate copy for every machine you use it on. Registration is US$10 per copy (bulk discounts are available).
Payment can be made through the Kagi payment service You can use the enclosed "Register" program, or the online registration form at <http://order.kagi.com/?GN>.
To use "Register", open the Register program that accompanies this software. Enter your name, your email address, and the number of licenses you desire for CapsBeep. Save or Copy or Print the data from the Register program and send the data and payment to Kagi.
Fax or Email - Credit Card or First Virtual
If paying with Credit Card or First Virtual, you can email or fax the data to Kagi. Their email address is sales@kagi.com and their fax number is +1 (510) 652-6589. You can either Copy the data from Register and paste into the body of an email message or you can Save the data to a file and you can attach that file to an email message. There is no need to compress the data file, it's already pretty small. If you have a fax modem, just Print the data to the Kagi fax number. (Note that because Kagi is a separate payment service, your billing statement will list Kagi, not the author of the software.)
Payments sent via email are processed within 3 to 4 days. You will receive an email acknowledgement when it is processed. Payments sent via fax take up to 10 days and if you provide a correct internet email address you will receive an email acknowledgement.
Cash or Cheque
If you are paying with Cash or USD Check you should print the data using the Register application and send it to the address shown on the form, which is:

You can pay with a wide variety of cash from different countries but at present if you pay via check, it must be a check drawn in US Dollars. Kagi cannot accept checks in other currencies, the conversion charge for non-USD checks is around USD 15 per check and that is just not practical.
Invoices
If you have a purchasing department, you can enter all the data into the Register program and then select Invoice as your payment method. Print three copies of the form and send it to your accounts payable people. You might want to highlight the line that mentions that they must include a copy of the form with their payment.
Kagi can not invoice your company, you need to act on Kagi's behalf and generate the invoice and handle all the paper work on your end. Please do not fax or email payment forms that indicate Cash, Check or Invoice as the payment method. There is still no technology to transfer physical objects via fax or email and without the payment, the form cannot be processed.
Postal Mail
Payments sent via postal mail take time to reach Kagi and then up to 10 days for processing. Again, if you include a correct email address, you will hear from Kagi when the form is processed.
Serial Number Delivery
Serial numbers are typically delivered by email. If you do not include an email address in your registration, your serial number will be sent by postal mail originating from Canada. Add 1 week for processing time, and a few weeks for delivery (or more - depending on the destination postal address).
CAREFULLY READ THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THIS LICENSE AGREEMENT PRIOR TO USING THIS PACKAGE. USE OF ANY PORTION OF THIS PACKAGE INDICATES YOUR AGREEMENT TO THE FOLLOWING TERMS AND CONDITIONS. IF YOU DO NOT AGREE WITH SUCH TERMS AND CONDITIONS, YOU SHOULD DESTROY ALL OF YOUR COPIES OF THIS PACKAGE.
DEFINITIONS
Package means the software, manual(s), and other items accompanying this agreement.
Software means the computer programs contained in the Package, together with all codes, techniques, software tools, formats, designs, concepts, methods, and ideas associated with these computer programs.
You and Your refer to any person or entity that acquires or uses the Package.
The Vendor refers to Grant Neufeld.
PERMITTED USES
The Vendor grants you a non-exclusive license to use the software in this package according to the terms set forth below.
You may:
Install and operate the Software on as many computer systems as you so choose, subject to the conditions set forth below.
Make any number of copies of the Software, which remain subject to this agreement. In any such copies, you must reproduce all copyright notices and other identifying or restrictive legends that appear on the Software as received. Each machine on which copies of the software are used must be individually covered by paid registration, or encompassed in the terms of a paid site or world license registration.
Transfer all (but no lesser portion, except as otherwise stipulated in this agreement) of the Software and related manuals to another person or entity, who in turn will be subject to this agreement.
PROHIBITED USES
You may not:
Remove, obscure, or alter any copyright notice or other proprietary rights related to the Software or Package including manuals.
The Software involves valuable proprietary rights of the Vendor. The Vendor retains title to and ownership of the Software and all copyright, trade secret, trade name, trademark, and other property rights related to the Software, regardless of the form that the original or other copies exist in. You may not violate these rights, and you must take appropriate steps to protect the Vendor's rights.
Both the license and your right to use the software terminate automatically if you violate any part of this agreement. In the event of termination, you must immediately destroy all of your copies of the Software or return them to the Vendor.
DISCLAIMER OF WARRANTY
The Vendor does not warrant that the Software is free from all bugs, errors, and omissions.
The Vendor may, at his discretion, choose to make a reasonable effort to correct the program errors.
EXCEPT AS SPECIFICALLY SET FORTH ABOVE, THE VENDOR MAKES NO WARRANTIES, EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, REGARDING THE SOFTWARE. THE VENDOR DOES NOT WARRANT, GUARANTEE OR MAKE ANY REPRESENTATIONS REGARDING THE USE OR THE RESULTS OF THE USE OF THE SOFTWARE IN TERMS OF ITS CORRECTNESS, ACCURACY, RELIABILITY, CURRENTNESS OR OTHERWISE. THE ENTIRE RISK AS TO THE RESULTS AND PERFORMANCE OF THE SOFTWARE IS ASSUMED BY YOU. THE EXCLUSION OF IMPLIED WARRANTIES IS NOT PERMITTED BY SOME JURISDICTIONS. THE ABOVE EXCLUSIONS MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.
EXCEPT AS SPECIFICALLY SET FORTH ABOVE, THE VENDOR WILL IN NO EVENT BE LIABLE TO YOU FOR ANY CONSEQUENTIAL, INCIDENTAL OR INDIRECT DAMAGES (INCLUDING DAMAGES FOR LOSS OF BUSINESS PROFITS, BUSINESS INTERRUPTIONS, LOSS OF BUSINESS INFORMATION, AND THE LIKE) ARISING OUT OF THE USE OR INABILITY TO USE THE SOFTWARE EVEN IF THE VENDOR HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. BECAUSE SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OR LIMITATION OF LIABILITY FOR CONSEQUENTIAL OR INCIDENTAL DAMAGES, THE ABOVE EXCLUSIONS MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU. THE VENDOR'S LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ACTUAL DAMAGES FOR ANY CAUSE WHATSOEVER, AND REGARDLESS OF THE FORM OF THE ACTION (WHETHER IN CONTRACT, TORT (INCLUDING NEGLIGENCE), PRODUCT LIABILITY OR OTHERWISE), WILL BE LIMITED TO THE PURCHASE PRICE YOU PAID FOR THE PRODUCT. THE LEGAL JURISDICTION FOR ALL MATTERS ARISING FROM THIS PRODUCT SHALL BE CALGARY, ALBERTA, CANADA.
GENERAL
Although the Vendor is not responsible for maintaining or helping you use the Software, the Vendor may, at their discretion, offer support.
This agreement constitutes the entire agreement and supersedes any prior agreement between the Vendor and you concerning the contents of this package. The Vendor is not bound by any provision of any purchase order, receipt, acceptance, confirmation, correspondence, or otherwise, unless the Vendor specifically agrees to the provision in writing and the writing includes the Vendor's signature. Any written or oral information or advice given by dealers, distributors, agents, or associates will in no way increase the scope of this agreement. Nor may you rely on any such oral or written communication. This agreement cannot be amended, modified, or waived, unless the change is written and signed by the Vendor.
